Save the Single Persons Discount

There are strong rumours that the Labour government will remove the Single Persons Discount for on Council Tax, leading to tax going up by over 33%, or £517 on a Band D property, annually. Stopping this is just plain wrong – and we are determined to fight it. This will apply to all households with just one adult that pays Council Tax. That could be a young person who has just been able to secure their first flat on their own. It could be single parent with children, or a widow(er) in the home that they shared for many years with their partner. We all know that the Conservatives wrecked the economy. But it is not right that Labour are expecting vulnerable older people to pay the price to fix it. Back our campaign today to get a fairer deal for single people.
