Luke Allan
Lib Dem Candidate for Ancoats & Beswick
Luke Allan
A local champion for Ancoats & Beswick
Raised in North Yorkshire, Luke now calls Ancoats home. He’s passionate about equality, community engagement and ensuring local voices are heard.
Over the years, Luke has volunteered and campaigned across a wide range of causes – from leading equality and campaign groups and advising police forces, to delivering in community health screenings and outreach, working with charities, shaping national policy and working with councillors and Parliamentarians across the UK on equality issues. He previously worked in higher education, helping people discover their passions and take the next step into higher education.
When he’s not out knocking on doors or following up casework, Luke enjoys walking along the Ashton Canal with his partner – a teacher and writer – and feeding the local (and vocal) Canada Geese at New Islington Marina.
Standing up for our community
For the past four years, Luke has worked alongside Cllrs Alan Good and Chris Northwood – campaigning all year round and standing up for our community.
A dedicated local campaigner, Luke is passionate about serving his community, helping to shape a better future for Manchester and demanding the fair deal we desperately need and deserve for our communities.
Listening and acting for you
Over the past four years, Luke has spent time listening to residents across Ancoats & Beswick, knocking on thousands of doors and helping people raise the issues that matter to them. He has reported and followed up hundreds of local problems, making sure concerns aren’t brushed aside and that residents get clear answers and action from the council and other authorities.
Whether it’s tackling fly-tipping, anti-social behaviour, or problems like blocked drains and damaged signs, Luke works to turn issues into action.
Campaigning for equality and fairness
Luke is an award-winning equality campaigner with a strong track record of working alongside charities, councils, MPs, peers and community groups to champion inclusion, challenge discrimination and bring communities together.
He has organised campaign rallies, training sessions and local events that unite people against hate and division, standing up for fairness, dignity and respect for all.
Luke wants to put this experience to work in the Town Hall, making sure residents’ voices are heard and acted on.
