Introducing Chris

A local champion for Ancoats & Beswick

After growing up in Doncaster, Chris went to university to study Computer Science before eventually moving to Manchester in 2011 to join the BBC’s graduate job scheme. At the BBC, she discovered her motivation to help others, and worked on the educational website BBC Bitesize before moving up the ranks ending up as a senior engineer, and publishing a book on software development.

Chris moved to Ancoats in 2012 and currently sits on her building’s management board. As a victim of the cladding scandal, she has been fighting against this injustice. Chris joined the Liberal Democrats to campaign locally after feeling the council was taking residents for granted, and has actively worked side-by-side with Councillor Alan Good.

For the past 4 years, she's been working as the Head of Development for a tech-for-good startup, building tools to allow victims and survivors of bullying, harassment and sexual assault on university campuses access support. In addition, Chris is also active within Manchester’s tech community, running grassroots events and community spaces and acts as an industry advisor to the Manchester Tech Festival.
