Leech questions B&Q boss over closure plans

South Manchester Liberal Democrat candidate John Leech has written to the boss of B&Q Kevin O'Byrne following today's announcement that the company is going to close 60 "loss making stores" of their 372 stores across the UK and Ireland.

John is concerned that the stores in Burnage and Stretford, which are staffed and visited by many local people, could be under threat.

John Leech said today, "I have shopped at both the Burnage and Stretford stores, and I know B and Q employ many local people. I have written to Mr O' Byrne to ask if the Burnage and Stretford stores are loss making, and are being earmarked for closure."

John added, "I hope that both stores used by local people stay open."
