Chorlton MP John Leech has urged Chorlton residents and community groups to support his plans to stop the Council selling off the Chorlton Baths site to developers.
He is co-ordinating a Community Right to Bid Application, but rules state he cannot submit the bid as an MP. Bids need to be supported by 21 local residents, or a local Community Group.
John said today, “I have written to over 500 people who have signed our petition opposing the sell-off, asking them to support the bid. I also want them to work with me to set up a “Friends of Chorlton Baths” group who could submit this application and eventually take over running the building.”
John added: “I have also spoken to officers of Chorlton Civic Society, and they are supportive of the plans. The response so far has been good.”
