Judging at the Chorlton Beer Festival: It's a hard job but someone's got to do it!

This Friday I will be a judge at the 8th Chorlton Beer Festival alongside CAMRA tasters, publicans, journalists, local celebrities and real ale enthusiasts.

This year for the first time the festival will be hosting a round of the Champion Beer Of Britain competition; the North West Speciality beers category will be judged, the winner of which will go forward to the final round held at the Great British Beer Festival at Olympia.

Speciality beers are cask beers that do not fall into any of the mainstream UK cask beer styles, and may include beers produced with novel ingredients such as non-hop flowers, grain other than malted barley, fruits or spices.

As a long-time supporter of the beer festival in Chorlton, I am pleased to say that it is back again for the 8th year running on the 6th and 7th July and keeps gaining popularity every year. I will be blind tasting 8 samples of beer with the rest of the judging panel.

I urge you all to come down on Friday between 5pm & 10.30pm and Saturday between 2pm & 10pm at St Clements Church to show your support for local breweries and Chorlton.
