Boaz Trust

I visited the new Boaz Trust headquarters in Ancoats last week. The Boaz Trust is a Christian charity working for destitute asylum seekers in Greater Manchester. It was established in 2004 by Dave Smith who has also worked with the Mustard Tree helping the homeless and the marginalised.

I have supported the work of the Boaz Trust for a number of years and in 2007  I supported  the Still Human Still Here campaign when I joined other campaigners by sleeping rough in Manchester city centre.

Even though the Boaz Trust only has a small number of paid staff, it is able to do a great deal to help people in distress. The amazing work they do include providing accommodation, essentials, advocacy and various activities including English lessons. All this is mostly done by volunteers and I got to meet a few of them today in person. It is wonderful how these people give their time working for those who are in need.

If you are considering doing volunteering please take a look at the Boaz Trust as they can always use a helping hand. You can also help keep up the good work they do by donations, hosting asylum seekers or campaigning. Simply take a look at the Boaz Trust webpage.
